Alien Dudes

In May I released a new set of Cute Little Dudes: Alien Invaders!

It all started when I heard the song "Purple People Eater", and I immediately needed to crochet one :) I then thought I'd make two other alien dudes, and my next choice was fairly easy: Cthulhu! I also considered an alien from the Alien movies, but that's a trademarked character, and I don't want to get onto trouble, so I had to do something else. Then, suddenly it occurred to me that I should make an alien with three eyes, so that I wouldn't end up with singles from the People Eater. Clever, huh? :p

The pattern is available both on Ravelry and Etsy :)

A growing boy & two mushrooms

In between all the traveling, packing, unpacking, eating, sleeping and socializing this weekend I actually managed to do a good deal of crocheting. Of course I could have mentioned this in my previous post earlier today, but since I link my blog posts to my projects on Ravelry I try to keep my posts separate and tidy :)

Anyway, again I brought my alien boy with me, with the hope that I would finally finish him this weekend. I didn't, but there's not much left. One antenna and the bottom of his feet are the only things missing. And his clothes, of course. He's huge! I never expected him to be that tall.. He looks a bit freakish with nothing on his head, but I hope to fix that soon :)

As I can never stick with just one project for any length of time, I just had to do something else. I found some leftover yarn from a sweater my mother had just finished, and with the smallest crochet hook I had at hand, I made these two mushrooms in just one evening:

The yarn was a little bit thinner than what I normally use, so the 3.5mm hook I used was a little too big. A 3mm hook would probably work just as well, it would just make the mushrooms smaller. I have written out the pattern for these mushrooms and posted it here on my new pattern blog. Hope you like it :)

Egyptology & aliens!

This weekend my boyfriend and I went to the capital to participate at the annual meeting of the Norwegian Egyptology Society :) On Saturday it was lectures with Egyptology related topics the whole day, and on Sunday we got to see a hen being mummified and put in her tomb. It had been dried in salt for 40 days, and the people at the museum wrapped it in bandages and performed the burial rituals in the correct ancient Egyptian way :D

Of course I couldn't leave the house for a whole weekend without bringing some craft-stuff with me, so I have now started a new project. An alien boy and his alien pet. So far I have made the boy's head and almost finished his small pet, but I have plans to make a girl alien and her pet, too. They are both going to have wardrobes, so I guess I have some more work to do...
